Orissa State Information Commission (OIC) constituted under Right to Information Act 2005 has been serving the citizen of Orissa since 20th November 2005. In order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every Public Authorities, the Commission plays a vital role. In order to make people more accessible to information the Orissa State Information Commission has launched an e- gateway system or electronic gateway system through which the citizens can reach to the Commission quickly.
Under this e-gateway system a citizen can lodge complaint against any public authority at the Commission, in case of information denied. Besides the appellant can submit their second appeal in ‘Form E’ electronically to the State Information Commission as it itself acts as the Second Appellate Authority. The Commission also provides a facility to pay online against the cost for providing information under its various services.In collaboration with HDFC Bank the OIC has taken this initiative where the complainant/appellant can pay online either through credit card, debit cum ATM card or through challan (Only in case of Request for information to the PIO of Orissa Information Commission).
Apart from Second Appeal, being a Public Authority the Commission also receives request for information to the PIO and submission of first appeal to the First Appellate Authority of Orissa State Information Commission through its electronic ‘Form A’ & ‘Form D’ respectively.
